These days it seems more popular for parents to travel with their children instead of sending them off alone to an aunt in the desert. Times may have changed there, but what hasn’t is the fact that many airlines, international and domestic, will still go to extra lengths to keep kids (and their parents) happy when traveling.
With that in mind, Cheapflights.com.au have prepared a breakdown of ten international carriers examined in terms of their child-friendliness.
Many of the listed airlines offer free gift packs and in-flight entertainment to amuse those kids not already packing an app-laden smart phone or tablet. Free stroller check-in is nearly standard across the board, with many carriers also waiving the extra fee for carry-on bags needed for nursing infants. Generally, reduced ticket rates also apply for children aged under two who are able to sit on their parent’s lap and sleep in a bassinet.
In most cases, special kids meals can be booked in advance (usually no later than 48 hours ahead of departure) while some airlines also offer pre-boarding for families and free advanced seating arrangements. To keep things simple, the table doesn’t take into account passenger class, route or plane type, for that reason, the list also adds a social media response category to show which airlines were shipshape in addressing queries over Facebook.
Happy travels!
