Dronestagram is a site dedicated to images taken in mid-air, by drones.

As the technology has become cheaper, photographers and filmmakers have started using quadcopters to take stunning near-field pictures.

Eric Dupin, Dronestagram’s founder, told the BBC that drone photography offers an exciting new perspective.

“It depicts a new vision of the world, with stunning images taken from low altitude, near field,” he said.

“It is so different of images taken by satellite or plane or helicopter, or, on the other end, street view images. It represents an ‘intermediary layer’.”

Recently, the drone photography community launched its first international aerial photo competition, with National Geographic France.

Here are the winning shots.
